Why do people find fuelling on the bike so difficult to get right?

From my experience, there are many reasons for this, even from simple things like concentrating on traffic, stopping and starting at junctions and avoiding potholes and cracks in the road, all of which takes thought away from eating and drinking. Being on a TT bike means people are less inclined to come out of their position on the bars to fuel, so it gets neglected. But also, a lack of knowledge of what and how much to consume can be a problem.

KS Nutrition can help you with ideas of how to make fuelling on the bike work for you.

Being more disciplined with fuelling can be helped by setting an alarm in your Garmin watch to go off every 20 minutes of your ride, to remind you when to fuel, this needs to be practiced in training to know what works for you in a race. Let’s stop the bike bonk in its tracks 😊
